5 months

Milestones this week: Emilia stands on her own with only the help of her arms. William remains the best eater when it comes to the spoon. I swear, Jackson said “Mama” not once, but 3 times.
We had our 4 month check-up this week (uh, actually it’s been 5 months, but I couldn’t get in, as usual). The babies are between the 40th and 60th percentiles for heights and weights (for their age, unadjusted). I’m happy with that. I was worried when they came home in the 5th, and then skyrocketed to the 80th. Now they’re right in the middle. Nice.
I’m getting sick of random strangers talking to me when I have the triplets in tow. It’s such a weird life – pushing people away from the babies, answering personal questions…being the butt of jokes….or downright frowned upon for existing.
Strangers ignore you and talk to (or about) your babies, pointing and staring, as though your family were on display. [Continue Reading…]

Milestones this week: All babies laughed several times. All babies responded to their names. All babies eat 6-10 baby spoonfuls of organic rice cereal twice a day. William is our best eater, always opening wide, swallowing well, and wanting more. I’m not sure how much to give him. I’ll ask the doc next week.
I’m on a roll with this whole routine/schedule thing! We’re doing great, and the babies usually sleep about 10 hours a night! I’m not there yet, but I feel almost human again. Jason and I enjoy the babies more every week.
In the beginning, I rarely (ok, never) let the babies cry. After live-in help left, we turned to a stricter schedule, one that allowed for more crying.
Here’s our schedule, roughly. It’ll probably change next week…I included my “philosophy” as well.
PHILOSOPHY NOTES:
*Babies need adult interaction and conversation! Talk to babies at all times–while feeding, [Continue Reading…]

Check out the photos section, we’ve added new ones!
Milestones this week: Jackson helicopters around the playmat on his tummy. He’s rolling all the time (front to back only). He also laughed for the first time! Emilia laughed for the first time weeks ago, but I forgot to mention it. :) The shocker of the week is…William! The other night he ate 8 ounces with 3 teaspoons of organic rice cereal for dinner! And he’s rolling front to back all the time as well!
So, back to sleeping.
We’ve had a few good nights here and there, but generally someone wakes… Ok, Jackson wakes. Nighttime crying means 2 things: it must be Jackson, and it must be 3:30am. To make my nights harder, I a) moved everyone into their cribs, and b) put all cribs in the same room. This is standard triplet procedure, (having them all in the same room) because APPARENTLY they learn to sleep through each others’ cries. Haa-haa. (Plus, I need the guest [Continue Reading…]
17 weeks – sleep training and personality

Milestones of the week: All babies started on organic bananas, apricots, and rice cereal! Everyone eats solids everyday, more than we expected! For me (Hey, I have milestones too!), I can finally tell the identical boys apart. William’s left ear is slightly different than the other 3 ears of the boys. Jason can tell them apart by their slightly different faces and head shapes, but not always. He says it’s getting harder and harder. And the biggie, Da-Da-DADA: everyone is sleeping through the night!!!
Thanks, readers, for all the advice on sleeping-through-the-night! Keep it coming! I made some big changes, and am happy to report things are much, MUCH better!
As many of you know, I’m working on research-based PhD program in personality psychology at one of the UC universities. Coincidentally, I also worked for a twin study as an undergrad (MCTFR, yes, you can google that, though I think they took my pic down). Questions regarding [Continue Reading…]
New “Favorite Items” Product Review Section
Written By: Jason / Category: Favorite Items, News / View Comments: 0
We’ve added a new section to the blog dedicated to posting reviews of some of our favorite baby items. There are only a couple of items listed currently and we haven’t finished writing our reviews for them yet, but hey, it’s up and running! In the coming weeks we’ll add more items/reviews so check back often.
You can always reach this new section of the blog by clicking the seal graphic that reads “our favorite baby items” in the blog’s header.
We hope our item reviews will be helpful to other parents looking for must-have baby items.
If there’s enough interest I’ll add the ability to comment. We’re definitely interested in hearing your thoughts about the reviews and/or products themselves.
