Milestones this week: William rolled from his tummy to his back. Emilia too, but it could’ve been the way I placed her on the mat. Unlike William, she didn’t do it again.

I’m on the brink of a meltdown this week. The periods between the boys’ night wakings got shorter and shorter. They wake every 1-1 1/2 hours after 12am. I fall asleep around 8-8:30pm, and get up around 12:30pm-1:00am, roughly. I get between 3-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Then the madness begins…from both me and the boys. I guess you could say they get it from me. I’m a terrible sleeper. And one of those people who needs 8 hours to do anything requiring a bit of thought, like school-related stuff (a.k.a., my job). I’m totally unproductive since all live-in help left, and only have the nanny 50 hours a MONTH. When she’s here, I plan to work, but I’m so tired I end up sleeping instead.

When Jason wakes, he goes right back to sleep, no problem. [Continue Reading…]

Milestones of the Week: Jackson is now pushing himself around the play mat on his tummy, head down. It looks uncomfortable, but it gets him where he’s going. He also started rolling from his tummy to his back. Emilia laughed for the first time.

I’m getting a little desperate about this whole sleeping-through-the-night thing. It does seem like they wake more now than ever. They all sleep best in the beginning of the night, about 7-8pm to 11pm-midnight. Then the boys wake up to eat, and Emilia continues to sleep. The boys wake every 2-3 hours for the rest of the night…if I’m lucky!! Sometimes they wake up even MORE often than that. They want to eat and usually can’t be soothed w/o a bottle. Emilia ALWAYS wakes around 5am to eat, but then goes back to bed until 6:30, the official wake time. All babies get up for the day at 6:30am. Since the start of this week, I’m not able to get them eating their morning bottles. I figure it’s [Continue Reading…]

Our First Trip to Target – 14 weeks

Written By: / Category: News, Pictures / View Comments: 7

Today we headed out to our local Super Target. Esther thinks it’s very important that we live our lives as closely as we would if we did not have the triplets. She thinks it’s a bad idea to stay locked up in the house with them just because we have three, and not one. We’ve taken the babies to Babies ‘R’ Us and many walks, but never to a place to do some actual shopping, and never without other adults to help. I was a bit nervous about the whole thing simply because I didn’t know what to expect from other shoppers, or how the babies would behave. But, as always, Esther was calm and cool thankfully (love her for that) and reassured me that all would go well.

All three babies are drooling like crazy and eating their fists… It’s in my hair, on my shirt, down my arm, I mean big gobs of drool…from what I’ve read they’re teething? Isn’t it too soon? They can’t even hold a teething ring yet. Does anyone know anything about teething?

Also, William rolled from his back to his side – twice! I thought he’d make it all the way to his tummy, but he stayed on his side.

One of the boys (I got mixed up and don’t know who) slept 12 hours straight last week. Of course, they’re getting up every 3-4 hours now, but that was amazing!!!

Jason’s parents and brother are finally here! What a blast! It’s so amazing to have so much family in the house. With all the help, we even took the babies to Ross and Burlington Coat Factory. Their first trip to a store! Pretty much every person who saw the triplets stopped and said something. Or gawked. So we bought a [Continue Reading…]

3 months!!

I’m celebrating!! It’s been 3 months, and for some reason, it’s a milestone in my head. I almost see the forest through the trees. The babies are so much easier.

They eat, hang out contently, and nap happily (after a bit of crying, but hey, I’ll take it). Both Jason and I agree: we can’t wait until they get beyond newborn. Either you’re a baby person, or you’re not. We admit it: We’re not. For me, I like the personality part, the part that’s not so visible in babies. I can’t wait for them to crawl around and tear the house apart, driving us crazy. To distinguish themselves, to become stubborn or agreeable individuals. I want to know them and hopefully understand them. A certain amount of shaping is involved, but hey, they are who they are. Being in personality psychology, I know the limitations of shaping individuals. I’m hoping to see their strengths, and guide them in their best directions. The idea that [Continue Reading…]

Generic vs. Name Brand Baby Formula

Written By: / Category: Poll / View Comments: 10

As a first-time parent, there’s a lot to learn. With 3 babies, things get complicated quickly. The one thing Esther and I seem to go back and forth on the most is baby formula. More specifically, generic vs. name brand baby formula. It’s a hot topic as we can spend anywhere from $400 – $700 a month in formula.

In the US,  all baby formula is strictly regulated. Most generic and name brand baby formula exceeds the government’s minimum nutritional standards, all using basically the same [Continue Reading…]
